Robert (Bob) William Gibbons, Bob passed away July 24, 2019, at West Bridge care and Rehibilitation. Memorials can be made to Bobbi and will go to a donation to the West Bridge care and Rehibilitation later.
Robert was born October 31, 1929, to Zora (Johnson) and Truman Gibbons at home in Madison county. He graduated from Murray community school. Bob was a farmer, and he raised turkeys, pigs, cattle, and later kittens. He also farmed corn, beans, and hay. Bob loved taking his grandchildren on rides to see his animals. He had a quick smile, ornery jokes, and a twinkle in his eye. Whenever the work was done, Bob also loved playing penny slots at the casino. Bob lived the last couple of years at West Bridge where he was well taken care of, and he entertained the nurses.
He married Barbara (Bobbi) McConnell March 6, 1950, in Winterset at the parsonage. Bob was very active in both his children’s and his grandchildren’s lives. Bob and Bobbi lived in rural Madison county for most of their life and then moved a mile down the road to Clarke county.
Bob is survived by his wife Bobbi; sons, Dennis (Debbie) David (Jacki) and Daniel (Jean); grandchildren: Jessica Gibbons (Warren) Booton, Jennie (Jeremy) Wingler, Aaron (Amber) Gibbons, Brenda (Steve) Gehling, Angee (Mike) Booth, David (Kayleen) Gibbons, Jr., Chris (Tracy) Gibbons, & Michelle (Troy) Gibbons. He also had 12 great-children and a great-great grandchild. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
