To Clarke County Voters

The special election vote on how we select our supervisors is very important! It will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. All options should be evaluated closely, with the goal of selecting the process that best represents Clarke County as a whole. Please review this short summery of the three options and take the time to vote on this important decision, Aug. 6.

There are three (3) different plans under which county supervisors can be elected. Currently Clarke County is under Plan "three"; and that is the plan Clarke County Farm Bureau supports.

-Plan "one" calls for at-lartge elections without residency requirements (meaning all voteers vote for all supervisor positions and the supervisor representing their district within the county does not need to live in that district).

Pro: Everyone participates in the election of all the supervisors.

Con: All elected officials may end up living in the same geographical are of the county.

-Plan "two" calls for at-large elections with residency requirements (meaning all voters vote for all supervisor positions but the supervisor representing their district within the city must live in that district).

Pro: geographical representation with districts of equal population

Con: entire county chooses the representative in an individual district

-Plan "three" calls for single-member elections with residency requirements (meaning voters only vote for the supervisor that will represent their district, and that individual must live within the district they represent).

Pro: geographical representation with districts of equal population

Con: only represented by one supervisor and not all of them
