HUXLEY – The Ballard boys tennis team was no easy foe for Clarke April 9 as the Bombers picked up a 9-0 win over the Indians.

At No. 4 singles, Zavola fell 6-1, 6-2 to Chase Winterboer.

In doubles the Bombers were just as prevalent, putting together wins of 8-3, 8-2 and 8-2 in the three matches.

Reynoldson and Evan Hagen fell at No. 1 while John Reynoldson and Zavola dropped their match at No. 2.

Diego Hurtado and TJ Woods fell by an 8-2 final at No. 3.

Lady Indians pester Ballard but fall

Clarke girls tennis battled with Ballard at home April 9 and came away with a couple of individual victories over a strong Bombers team.

Ballard ultimately pulled out a 7-2 team win, but Clakre’s three state experience veterans in Megan Linskens, Deseree Stubbe and CeJay Blakely helped pick up a couple of wins.

At No. 1 singles, Linskens bested Lindsey Kaldenberg of Ballard by a 10-7 final score.

Blakely fell at No. 3 singles, her first singles match of the season, but joined Stubbe in a dramatic 11-10 win at No. 1 doubles.

The returning state qualifying doubles pair needed a tiebreaker to pull it out, but edge Kaldenberg and Hannah Elliot by a 7-5 margin.

Linskens and Chassie Beydler put up a good fight at No. 2 doubles, but dropped their match 10-4 and Alivia Bakely and Chailyn Beydler lost 10-3 at No. 3 doubles.
