Darwin Bart Griffith, 73, of Osceola, was issued a citation for a turning at an intersection violation after an accident 2:17 p.m. April 18 at the intersection of West Garfield Street and North Fillmore Street.
Griffith, driving a school bus, turned onto North Fillmore Street and struck the front of Timothy Alan Hawxby, 58, of New Virginia, driving a 1996 Chevy, who was stopped at the stop sign on North Fillmore Street. Griffith’s vehicle ran over the front of Hawxby’s vehicle.
Hannah Snyder, 9, of Osceola and Karla Pelkey, 58, of New Virginia were transported to Clarke County Hospital. Griffith was taken for drug testing and the bus was driven off the scene by a different bus driver.
Estimated damage was $5,000 to Hawxby’s vehicle and $5,000 to the Clarke Community Schools School Bus.
