Clarke County South Central Iowa Community Foundation (SCICF) awarded a grant to Clarke Band Boosters for a new brass drum and trap set.
The bass drum the elementary band was using is old and outdated, estimated to be about 45 years old. This has caused students not being able to learn proper bass drum playing techniques nor experience proper bass drum sound.
The high school band was using a trap set (drum set) that was approximately 40 years old and the hardware was worn out on it.
Brad Lampe, Clarke High School band director, said, “We were in dire need of replacing some very old and outdated equipment in the Clarke Band Department. The students were very excited and enthused to have up to date equipment that doesn’t breakdown and always works.”
