Subway celebrates 20 years in business

0

On May 1, Subway in Osceola will celebrate 20 years in business. Owners Todd and Cami Thompson moved to Osceola from Colorado to open the sandwich shop in 1991. The Osceola business was the couple’s first Subway business – they now own Subways in Corning, Greenfield, Lamoni, Mt. Ayr and New Virginia.

Todd, a native of Iowa, said his family had purchased a Subway franchise and were operating a store in Marshalltown and were in the process of expanding to Creston when the couple decided to go into the sandwich business as well. He said it made sense to move back to Iowa to be closer to family.

“We were looking between this community and another,” he said. “We spent the day here with Helen Saylor Kimes. She showed us around and we decided ‘let’s put a Subway in Osceola.’”
