1LT Talon Cole Deemer, a 2003 graduate of Clarke Community High School, completed his Aviation Branch Qualification Course for the UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter.
Deemer completed his training at the United States Army Aviation Center Fort Rucker, Ala. Deemer’s training included: TH-67 (Creek) – The training helicopter, Primary (2 months), Instruments (2 months), Basic Warfighting Skills (1 month), UH-60 Black Hawk advanced helicopter training, Contact (5 weeks), Instruments (6 days), Basic Combat Skills (1 month), Nights (1 month).
The UH-60 Black Hawk is the Army’s front-line utility helicopter used by air assault, air cavalry, and aero medical evacuation units. It is designed to carry 11 combat-loaded, air assault troops, and it is capable of moving a 105-millimeter howitzer and 30 rounds of ammunition. Modified versions of the UH-60 operate as command and control, electronic warfare, search and rescue, and special operations platforms.
Deemer is the son of Duane Deemer, Nashville, Tenn. and Carol Owings of Afton.
Grandparents are Gareth and Connie Deemer of Weldon, and LaVonne Miller of Leon. Great-grandparents are Raymond and Darlene Deemer of Leon, and Newton and Jean Gray of Van Vert.
