No citations were issued following an accident on Feb. 10 in the parking lot of Lakeside Hotel & Casino, 777 Casino Drive.
According to an Osceola police report, Dobby Hicks of West Des Moines was driving north through the parking lot in a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox as a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Irma Watkins of Osceola, was traveling west. At an intersection in the parking lot, the front of Watkins’ vehicle struck the passenger side door of Hicks, causing the airbags to deploy on the side impacted. Dawn Petersen of Colfax was sitting on the side with the airbag deployment.
Both drivers and all passengers signed EMS refusals at the scene.
Damage is estimated at $6,500 to the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, and $2,500 to the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado.

No citations were issued following an accident on Jan. 22 at 1013 Highway 69 north.
According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Adam Pettyjohn of Knoxville was traveling north in a 2005 Nissan Titan when he looked down, causing his vehicle to go onto the shoulder of the road, causing him to lose control and go into the ditch. The responding officer noted that there had been airbag deployment, but Pettyjohn said that he was okay and did not need an ambulance called.
Damage is estimated at $2,000 to the 2005 Nissan.

No citations were issued following an accident on Jan. 24 on 250th Avenue.
According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Brandon VanWinkle in a 2013 Dodge Avenger was traveling east on Miami Street and preparing to turn south onto 250th Avenue. At the same time, Charles Hadsall of Prairie City was traveling north on 250th Avenue in a 2015 Kenworth. Hadsall noticing VanWinkle’s approach came to a stop at the intersection that was ice and snow covered, and VanWinkle slid on the ice to collide head-on with Hadsall’s truck.
Damage is estimated at $7,000 to the 2013 Dodge and $2,000 to the 2015 Kenworth.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Lauren Robins, Murray, was traveling west on Osage Street in a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse with intentions to turn north onto 150th Avenue. The intersection was covered with ice and snow, and Robins’ vehicle slid into the ditch on the west side of 150th.
Damage is estimated at $3,500 to the 2022 Chevrolet.

No citations were issued following an accident on Jan. 28 at mile marker 40 on Interstate 35 northbound.
According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Truong Dang, Ames, was attempting to change from the right to left lane in his 2014 Lexus RX when he lose traction. Dang entered the right ditch and rolled at least once. Dang and two occupants were able to leave the vehicle uninjured.
Damage is estimated at $5,000 to the 2014 Lexus.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Caelen Jackson of Humeston was in a 2019 Kia Soul headed east when a deer ran into the roadway directly in front of Jackson’s vehicle, and was unable to stop.
Damage is estimated at $3,500 to the 2019 Kia.

No citations were issued following an accident on Feb. 11 between the 33 and 34 mile markers on Interstate 35 north.
According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, a 2016 Chrysler Town and County driven by Janice Bell of Austin, Minn. was northbound on Interstate 35 when Bell’s vehicle made contact with the cable barrier on the left side of the vehicle. Bell then steered into the right ditch, where the vehicle came to rest. Bell was uninjured, and no other vehicles were involved.
Damage is estimated at $3,000 to the 2016 Chrysler.
