Kathryn Baker

Kathryn Delores Baker (Kitty) was born on April 17, 1926 in Cainsville, Missouri. She was the second of three children born to Olen O’Neal and Helen Hydorn O’Neal. Kitty received her education and graduated from Garden Grove, Iowa High School in 1943.

After graduation Kitty moved to Des Moines, lowa where she worked at Brown Camp. While there she lived in Esther Hall Residence for Women where she made many life long friends.

Kitty married Max Baker of LeRoy, Iowa in 1945. they moved to the family farm where a city girl quickly became a farm wife. To this union three children were born: Jeanne, David and Deborah.

During her life time Kitty worked for the Iowa State Extension office where she was very active with the 4-H program. She loved going to 4-H camp.

Kitty was a member of the Methodist Church, a member of P.E.O. and very involved in several local women’s clubs. She loved to sew and was famous for her knitting, especially afghans. She also loved to work in her flower beds.

Left to mourn her passing are her children: Jeanne Henrichsen of Urbandale, Iowa, David Baker (Jeanne) of Garden Grove, Iowa and Deborah Bury of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Grandchildren: Patrick Henrichsen (Sheila) of Des Moines, Iowa, Ryan Henrichsen (Tara) of Rochester, Minnesota, Chris Baker of Corydon, Iowa, Carrie Clark (John) of Corydon Iowa, Justin Baker (Shannon) of Shawnee, Kansas, Brittney Frye (Kyle) of Grain Valley, Missouri, Tanner Bury (Emily) of Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Great grandchildren: Will Henrichsen, Elise Henrichsen, Noah Henrichsen, Ella Henrichsen, Anna Henrichsen, Blayde Baker, Stetson Baker, Alexandria Bake, Lorenzo Baker­ Martiniz (Alicia), Dylan Martiniz, Caleb Clark, Abby Clark, BrodyBaker, Kylan Baker, Arabella Baker, Hannah Frye, Sadie Frye. Great-great grandchildren Ella Martiniz, Leo Martiniz, Braxly Baker and Paisley Sharp.

Kitty is preceded in death by her husband Max, parents Olen and Helen O’Neal, brother Herman O’Neal and sister Louise Cline. She is also preceded in death by her son-in-law Ken Henrichsen, grandson Michael Henrichsen and special friend Verne Binning. Kitty also leaves behind extended family and friends, among those are lifelong friends from grade school.

Memorial contributions may be made to the High Point Methodist Church building Fund or Every Step Hospice, Osceola.
