Patsy Ruth (Stewart) Holst, 85, passed away March 26, 2023 at Johnston Hospice House after a long and richly blessed life. Family will receive friends on Wednesday March 29th from 5:00 - 7:00 at Kale Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 30th at 10:30 a.m. at the Osceola United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church.

Patsy was born / raised in Missouri. After graduating from Lebanon High School she earned her teaching degree from Drury University in Springfield, MO. Patsy taught in many capacities ranging from the only teacher for grades K-8 in a one room school house to teaching Title I math to 4th - 6th graders at Clarke Community Schools in Osceola, IA.

On June 25, 1961 she married the love of her life, William Holst. Together they raised Geoff (Jana) Holst, Karen (John) Cooper, and Kevin (Kerri) Holst.

She was a very involved member of the United Methodist Church in Osceola and served as an active member of United Methodist Women (UMW) for many decades.Patsy enjoyed sharing her talents with others. You could find her singing in the choir, knitting prayer shawls, sewing quilts for her grandchildren, baking sweet breads for anyone that enjoyed them, playing bridge at the senior center, spending time with family and friends or crocheting baby hats for premies.

Patsy traveled often with her husband Bill and sister-in-law, Suzanne (Bill) Knopf. She loved to see new and interesting places and always came home with detailed stories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Wanda and Wilma, her brother in law Leon and her niece, Sandra.

Patsy will be greatly missed by her husband William; children Geoff (Jana), Karen (John) Cooper, Kevin (Kerri) Holst; 4 grandchildren Cole, Cheyenne, Brooke and Jayden; and many other family members and friends.

Services will be held at Osceola United Methodist Church, Thursday March 30, 2023 at 10:30 am with Amy Johnson officiating.The family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Kale Funeral Home.
