Tom Loney

Osceola

Thomas “Tom” Dewey Loney, son of Dewey Otto Loney, Jr. and Bertha Elizabeth (Welch) Loney was born December 3, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola Iowa at 71 years of age.

Tom grew up in Des Moines and Hartford and his family moved to Osceola in 1965, Tom graduated from Clarke Community High School. Tom was united in marriage to Patricia Diane Smith on January 15, 1972 in Osceola and two daughters, Jackie and Jennifer blessed the union. Tom was a hard working, loving and caring family man. He worked many years for Miller Products, Mac-Lander and Sport Wade. He was very outgoing and helped anyone when there was a need. He will be greatly missed.

Tom dearly loved his wife Diane, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing at his pond and going hunting. He was always making something, he was an exceptional welder and he enjoyed farming. Tom’s greatest joy were his grandkids and great grandkids and his Maltese puppies, Scooter and Sophie.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Loney, Jr. grandparents, Myrtle and Dewey Loney Sr., and Mildred and Ross Welch and his parents-in-law, Beverly and Victor Smith.

Tom leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 years, Diane Loney of Osceola, IA, daughter, Jackie (Doug) Miller of Osceola, IA, daughter, Jennifer Gray of Ankeny, IA, mother, Bertha Elizabeth Loney of Osceola, IA, granddaughters, Alli Miller of Osceola, IA, and Morgan Snyder of Ankeny, IA, great grandchildren, Eli, Andre, Mila, and Karl, sisters, Deanna (Mike) Carson of Osceola, IA, Catherine Canova of Osceola, IA and Sherry (Dave) Reynolds of Ellston, IA, his two Maltese puppies, Scooter and Sophie as well as other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was open from Noon until 7:30 Monday, December 5, 2022 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola.

Family greeted friends from 10 am until 11 am prior to the Funeral Services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Kale Funeral home in Osceola with Chaplin Mike Albert officiating.

Lunch followed the services on Tuesday, from Noon until 3:00 at the Osceola Eagles

Cremation followed the funeral service.
