Sondra Fleagle

Sondra Fleagle, 83, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at MercyOne Hospital in Johnston, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 5 p.m. at LifePoint Church Assembly of God in Osceola. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Van Wert.

Sondra was born December 18, 1938, in Osceola, Iowa to Cassel and Genevieve (Ramsey) Roberts. She grew up in the Osceola and Murray areas. She attended Murray Community High School and graduated with the class of 1957. Following school, Sondra moved to Des Moines to work.

She met and married Buddy Fleagle, and the couple resided in Des Moines. Sondra was a homemaker until her kids were raised and then began working at Polk County in Human Services. Sondra was also part owner and manager of an assisted living facility “Casual Living” in Osceola.

Sondra loved going to various churches and enjoyed many women’s Bible study groups. Her hobbies included interior decorating, shopping at garage sales, and flowers.

Those left to cherish her loving memory are her son, Steven Fleagle; grandchildren Lauren Fleagle, Mason Fleagle, Marshall Fleagle, Morgan Fleagle, and Mallory Mattson; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers Charlie (Liz) Harger of Eldridge, Iowa, and Rod (Marilyn) Harger of Osceola; half-sister Sara Roustio of Murray; sister-in-law Marge Roberts of Wyoming; uncle Ron LaFollette; many nieces; many nephews; many cousins; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Cassel Robert; mother Genevieve Harger; step-dad Ernie Harger; son Mark Fleagle; former husband Buddy Robert Fleagle; and brother Larry Roberts.

A Celebration of Life for Sondra will be held at LifePoint Assembly of God, 801 N. Fillmore St, in Osceola on Friday, August 26 at 5 pm.

The family would like to thank MercyOne Hospice staff and nurses for all the love and care they provided to Sondra.
