Twyla Jeter, 93, of Murray, died Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola. At her request, no public service will be held. Burial will be held at Murray Cemetery in Murray, Iowa. Powers Funeral Home of Afton is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Murray Community School Scholarship

Twyla Jean Jeter, daughter of Clarence Wesley Arnold and Theola Pearl (Bott) Arnold was born September 7, 1928 in Murray, Ia. Twyla graduated from Murray High School with the class of 1946. After graduation Twyla began working at Northwestern Bell in Osceola, Ia.

On June 25, 1950, Twyla was united in marriage to Charles Maurice Jeter in Murray, Ia. They settled in Murray, Ia. They lived in different locations as her husband’s job with the railroad required them to move, eventually ending back in Murray where she worked for Snowdon’s, a garment factory. She worked as a seamstress for 14 years, until they closed. During this time, she also worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business “Jeter Garage”. In her spare time, she sang a great deal in the Osceola and Murray areas. After retirement in 1990, they began to winter in Arizona and moved permanently to Arizona in 1998, returning to Murray in 2012. Twyla was a member of the Murray United Methodist Church, the Murray Church of Christ and a member of the Eastern Star.

Twyla is survived by her two sons, Dennis (wife Marla) Jeter and Maurice (wife Debra) Jeter, both of Murray, Ia.; a daughter Denise (husband Bill) Blake of Murray, Ia., six grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Audrey Boye.

Twyla was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chuck in 1995, a brother Charles (Anna) Arnold, her sister, Geraldine (Bob) Johnson; 4 brothers-in-law, Howard, Frank, Kenneth and Donald Jeter, and many other extended family members.
