Angel Nunez Torres of Osceola, a current student at the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Urban Campus, was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society on Dec. 5 during a special ceremony held on the DMACC Urban Campus. Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society for community college students. Torres (right) is pictured with DMACC President Rob Denson.

High School Equivalency Testing (HiSET) graduate Luz Maria Mora Luna (right) of Osceola poses in her cap and gown with her three-year-old daughter Melissa Martinez and Melissa’s dad, Oscar Martinez at the DMACC HiSET Graduation Ceremony held at the former Franklin Junior High School in Des Moines. More than 80 students walked across the stage to receive their diploma after successfully completing the five challenging exams in reading, writing, science, social studies and math.
