Area volleyball roundup: Clarke drops fifth straight

East Mills 2, Clarke 0

MOUNT AYR – Clarke dropped its fifth-consecutive match, falling 2-0 to East Mills at the Mount Ayr tournament Saturday.

Clarke struggled, falling 21-17 and 21-10.

Shenandoah 2, Clarke 0

MOUNT AYR – Clarke dropped both sets to Shenandoah at the Mount Ayr tournament Saturday.

The Lady Indians fell just short in both sets, losing 21-18 and 21-19.

Murray 3, Diagonal 0

MURRAY – Murray knocked off Diagonal 3-0 at home Thursday.

The Lady Mustangs dominated in each set, winning 25-10, 25-8 and 25-7.

Murray’s Jayda Chew had 16 assists on the day. Teryn Shields had nine kills while Twila Barber was 22-for-22 on serve attempts.

Albia 3, Clarke 0

OSCEOLA – Clarke fell to Albia 3-0 Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The Lady Indians dropped three straight sets 25-18, 25-13 and 25-17.

Josey Dunbar had two blocks and one kill. Tory Henry had 13 digs.

Martensdale-St Marys 3, Central Decatur 1

LEON – Central Decatur fell to Martensdale-St Marys 3-1 at home Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The Blue Devils edged out a 27-25 win in the first set. Central Decatur responded with a 25-19 Set 2 win before Martensdale took the next two sets 25-18 and 25-17.

Mara Dykes recorded 16 assists. Malloree Horn tallied eight kills.

Murray 3, Melcher-Dallas 1

MELCHER – Murray knocked off Melcher-Dallas, handing the Saints their first loss of the season Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Murray won the first set 25-17 before Melcher-Dallas responded with a 25-17 set win of its own. The Lady Mustangs rallied back for 25-14 and 25-19 wins.

Chew had 17 assists. Chloe Church and Barber had six kills each.
