Robert Melvin Evans, 93, of Osceola passed from this life Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Clarke County Hospital. He was born to Earl Melvin Evans and Leila Merle Hidy Evans September 7, 1926, in Weldon, Iowa.

Bob received his education in Osceola High School, graduating in 1945.  He faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps with the 6th Division during World War II, stationed in China.

He was united in marriage to R. Berniece “Bea”  Adamson Evans on November 7, 1948, at Osceola, Iowa. Two children, Marti and Janice, blessed this union.

Bob worked and retired as a carpenter with Adamson & Evans Construction, building many homes in the area. He was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church, Eagles Lodge Aerie #3495 and also the Davis-Pence American Legion Post #69 in Osceola.

Over the years, Bob has enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed playing golf and visiting with friends at the Osceola Country Club. Those relatives who preceded Bob in death were his father, Earl Melvin Evans, mother, Leila Merle Hidy, wife, Berniece “Bea” Evans, grandson, Matthew Alan Lewis; brother, Charles Eugene Evans; sister, Phyllis Lynn; brothers-in-law, Don Lynn, Fred Wood, Bill Adamson and George Hoffman; sisters-in-law, Betty Hoffman and Lois Adamson; and his niece, Cathy Fredericks.

Bob leaves to cherish his memory; daughters, Marti (John) Hayslette of Okemos, Michigan, and Janice Lee (Terry) Lewis of Osceola, Iowa; grandchildren, Megan Hayslette of Okemos, Michigan, and Shane (Carla) Alexander of Jackson, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Chase Alexander of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Levi Alexander of Indianola, Iowa, and Alayna Hayslette of Okemos, Michigan. Bob is also survived by his sister, Barbara Wood of Tiffin, Iowa; brother-in-law, Gerald “Shorty” Adamson of Osceola, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Glayne Adamson of Osceola, Iowa, and Patty (Rod) Hansen of Blair, Nebraska, as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Graveside services for Bob will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2020. at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola, Iowa.

The family and funeral home asks that anyone in attendance at the graveside service to please follow social-distancing guidelines and to use face coverings. For those unable to attend the service in person, a live stream will be available at kalefuneralhome.com on Bob’s tribute wall. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
