Murray 15, Moulton-Udell 0

MOULTON —Kayla Wookey threw a five-inning no-hitter as Murray mowed through Moulton-Udell on the road June 22 15-0.

Wookey set down 13 batters on strikes and walked just one Eagle.

Wookey was also 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.

Emma Decker went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Meghan Gould hit 1-for-2 with two RBI. Hailey Chew drove in two RBIs in a 2-for-3 day and hit a double. Kelli Romero went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI.

MURRAY — A seven-run third inning broke open a close game Friday night as Murray stayed unbeaten in Bluegrass Conference play with a 13-1 victory over Orient-Macksburg in four innings.

Pinch-hitter Bailey Frederick drove home the final two runs on a single to produce the 12-run margin, ending the game on the state’s mercy rule.

Breianna Klein knocked in three runs on three hits and pitched one shutout inning of relief for winner Kayla Wookey, who fanned seven with no walks in a three-hit performance over three innings.

Hailey Chew hit a double and two singles in the Lady Mustangs’ 15-hit attack. Zadie Hatfield was 2-for-3 with a double and Brandi Gilbert drove in two runs as Murray improved to 21-5 overall and 8-0 in the conference.

Kaela Eslinger had two singles for O-M (3-16, 1-8) and ended with three strikeouts and two walks in taking the loss. Murray had 15 hits.

Central Decatur 9, East Union 2

LEON – Central Decatur defeated East Union 9-2 here Friday in Pride of Iowa Conference play.

Lily Simon gave up just two hits and struck out seven in the complete-game victory for the Cardinals. She helped her own cause at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Daryn Nowlin and Emma Atwood each finished 3-for-4 at the dish, with Atwood driving in one run on a double and Nowlin stroking a pair of doubles. Freshman Maddy Maedel drove in three runs on two doubles.

Bedford Tourney

BEDFORD – Central Decatur finished the day 1-2 at Saturday’s Bedford Tournament.

The Cardinals lost 4-3 to Sidney. Simon surrendered only three hits but took the loss in the pitching circle.

Grace Martin finished 3-for-4 at the plate with one double and one RBI, while Maedel tripled and drove in two for the Cardinals.

Central Decatur beat POI rival Mount Ayr 4-3 thanks to a run in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie.

Simon gave up only four hits and walked none with no strikeouts in the win.

Nowlin scored three runs and stole three bases, hitting a double at the plate. Simon and Martin each finished 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI apiece. Atwood doubled and drove in two runs.

The Cardinals suffered a 13-4 loss to Earlham. Martin drove in two runs, while Maedel and freshman Maizee Lindsey each drove in one run. Maedel finished with two hits in the loss.
