Skin Kitchen Tattoo hosts shelter fundraiser

Skin Kitchen Tattoo, 130 S. Fillmore St., raised $755 and a generous amount of supplies for the Clarke County Animal Shelter during their April fundraiser.

“I have a beautiful female Great Dane named Piper. I also have two incredible boxers that are three years old named Maverick and Goose,” said Jack Lowe, shop owner, who moved to Osceola three years ago.

With a furry family of his own, he tries to do something for the shelter every year. In April, the shop rewarded donations of money or supplies for a very special tattoo.

“I was talking with a good friend about pets that we have lost and she wanted to design a tattoo to commemorate them. I had always had an idea of getting a tattoo to represent the ones I have lost and to just show a basic love for my furry family, but had never really come up with anything. I started sketching around and came up with a simple heart design,” said Lowe. “I figured It would be a fun way to get people excited about giving to the shelter.”

He was right. The shop got so much traffic, they had to call in some reinforcements.

“Jennifer Mc Mullen my manager at the shop, helped me with the planing and some of the logistics. Celeste my receptionist helped get everyone signed in. I even had my long time friend Michelle in from out of town to help out,” said Lowe. “Josh, Kade, Lono, Bailey (my artists) all did such an incredible job not only in giving their time but keeping up with all of the generous people that helped the shelter that day,” said Lowe.
