Murray 5, Twin Cedars 0

MURRAY — Murray finished the regular season with a 5-0 win over Twin Cedars, giving the Lady Mustangs a share of the Bluegrass Conference title.

The win improved Murray to 24-2 and 9-1 in the conference. That ties Murray with Moravia for the conference crown.

Chellsea Jones hit a two-run double in the first inning to put Murray on top, and the Lady Mustangs never looked back.

Murray scored three more runs in the fifth inning on four consecutive hits. Jones and Snyder hit singles, followed by an RBI double off the bat of Madison Gonseth. Brandi Gilbert then hit a two-run single.

Gilbert and Maddy Martin both had two hits in the win.

Kate Patton pitched a shutout, striking out four and walking one. Twin Cedars' Brittney Roby, who was leading the state in hitting, was held to an 0-for-3 night at the plate.

MOUNT AYR — Murray got a fast start in a 15-5 win over Lenox in six innings here at the Mount Ayr Softball Classic on July 2.

The Lady Mustangs scored four in the bottom of the first inning, thanks to back-to-back doubles by Chellsea Jones and Deena Snyder. Snyder added another RBI double in the bottom of the second inning.
