Mildred Hutcheson

Mildred May Hutcheson, 96, of Decatur, was the daughter of Roy Hopkins and Nola (McDowell) Hopkins. She was born March 29, 1924, in Decatur County and passed from this life Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at New Aldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

Mildred grew up in Decatur County and went to country school, later attending high school in Grand River. She was united in marriage to Dean Sherman Hutcheson and three children blessed this union: Eugene, Sheryl and Tom (Tommy).

Mildred worked at the ordinance plant in Des Moines for a while during World War II and worked at Snowdons in Osceola for a few years. Mildred loved the farm life and being a farm wife and mother. She attended Murray Church of Christ for many years.

Mildred enjoyed church and helping out with many events at the church.

Her relatives who preceded her in death were her husband Dean Hutcheson, son Eugene Norris, daughter Sheryl Hutcheson, brothers Don Hopkins and Carl Hopkins, sister Marjorie Black and parents Roy and Nola Hopkins.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memory: son, Tom (Stacy) Hutcheson of Hudson; daughter-in-law, Beverly Norris of Grimes; brother, Harry (Billie) Hopkins of Grand River; sister, Arletta Palmer of Clermont, Florida; three grandchildren: Howard Norris of Grimes, Evan Hutcheson of Seattle, Washington, Rachel Hutcheson of Cedar Falls; two great-grandchildren Matthew Norris and Jessica Norris; as well as other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at Murray Cemetery with Pastor Brian McCraken officiating.

The family and funeral home ask that anyone in attendance at the family gathering or graveside services to please follow social distancing guidelines. The use of face coverings at either event are required.
