Boys basketball roundup: CD wins twice, I-35 struggles to open the year

Central Decatur 71, Wayne 33

LEON – Central Decatur blew out Wayne Tuesday night, winning 71-33.

A 21-11 first quarter followed by a 21-10 and 22-10 third and fourth quarter were the difference makers in the Cardinals' win.

Michel Evertsen was the points leader, scoring 29 points (11 of 15 shooting). Cole Pedersen and Haden Leymaster both scored in double-digits, tallying 12 and 10 points, respectively.

ACGC 63, I-35 47

TRURO – Interstate 35 lost to ACGC Tuesday night 63-47.

Davis County 62, Clarke 38

OSCEOLA – Clarke lost big to Davis County Tuesday night in a 62-38 loss.

Murray 75, Mormon Trail 42

MURRAY – Murray rolled to its fourth straight win Tuesday night, winning over Mormon Trail 75-42.

The Mustangs scored 20-plus in every quarter but the fourth, limiting Mormon Trail to no more than 14 points across the board.

The Mustangs were led by Reece Held and Jace Rodecker's 17 points. Colton Siefkas chipped in 14 as the next highest total while Rilee Werner and Kegan Johnson had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Murray 87, Melcher-Dallas 49

MELCHER-DALLAS – It took a crowd, but Murray knocked down Melcher-Dallas 87-49 Monday night.

The Mustangs had nine different scorers enter the score book at the end of the game. Reece Held and Jace Rodecker were the team leaders, each scoring 17 points.

Colton Siefkas added 14 points with eight rebounds. Rilee Werner had eight rebounds and 12 points also.

Central Decatur 55, Chariton 52

CHARITON – Central Decatur narrowly beat Chariton Friday night, winning 55-52.

The Cardinals were able to outscore the Chargers 17-12 in the fourth quarter to help build the 3-point lead for the final horn.

Pedersen led the Cards in scoring with 20 points. Evertsen had 13 points and both Pedersen and Evertsen had eight rebounds in the win. Pedersen led the team in blocks with five.

Matthew Boothe had 10 points and three assists.

Pleasantville 52, I-35 41

TRURO – I-35 lost to Pleasantville 52-41 Friday night.

The Roadrunners were led in scoring by Carter Bussanmas, scoring 17 points. He fell a rebound short of a double-double with nine.

Kale Day scored 12 points, adding five boards.
