Area girls basketball: CD stays hot, Clarke drops one

Davis County 54, Clarke 43

OSCEOLA – Clarke fell at home to Davis County Tuesday night in a 54-43 final.

A 22-8 third quarter in favor of Davis County neutralized a 14-5 first quarter for the Indians, shifting the lead away from the Lady Indians. Clarke was unable to pull the score back in the final frame, getting outscored 10-9.

Kaitlyn Halsband was the leader for the Lady Indians, scoring 16 points on 7 of 12 shooting from the field.

Tori White scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds. Josey Dunbar was the rebounds leader for Clarke with eight, scoring six points in the process.

Murray 45, Mormon Trail 23

MURRAY – Murray beat Mormon Trail Tuesday night, winning 45-23.

Kinzee Eggers had 12 points for the Lady Mustangs. She grabbed 10 rebounds to complete the double-double.

Teryn Shields, Hannah Paschke and Jayda Chew each scored six points. Bailey Frederick was the leader in the assists department with seven.

Central Decatur 60, Wayne 20

LEON – Central Decatur won its seventh straight game Tuesday night, winning over Wayne in a 60-20 victory.

Wayne didn't score double digits in any quarter, entering halftime down 30-10 in an eventual 40-point loss.

Alaina Applegate was the leader in scoring for the Cardinals with 16 points. She also had seven rebounds, five blocks, four assists and three steals.

Riley Bell was next in line with scoring with 13 points. She also had six rebounds.

ACGC 50, I-35 33

GUTHRIE CENTER – ACGC beat Interstate 35 Tuesday night 50-33.

Jaliyah White led in scoring for the Roadrunners with 11 points. She also had five rebounds and six steals in the loss.

Carli McCuddin and Ainsley Maske had six points each. McCuddin posted nine rebounds also.

Cali Garner and Kaitlyn Morris each had five rebounds, scoring five and four points, respectively.

Melcher-Dallas 38, Murray 22

MELCHER-DALLAS – Murray lost to Melcher-Dallas Monday night 38-22.

A low-scoring contest, M-D led 4-2 after the first quarter completed. Murray pulled the score to within one at 11-10, but was never able to hold a firm lead on the contest.

Kinzee Eggers led the team in scoring with 12 points on 6 of 18 shooting. She led the team in rebounds also with eight.

Central Decatur 59, Chariton 31

CHARITON – Central Decatur rolled over Chariton 59-31 Friday night.

A 17-2 third quarter buried the Chargers, giving the Cardinals a comfortable lead through the fourth quarter.

Applegate had 24 points on 11 of 14 shooting. She also had 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Bell scored 17 and had 11 rebounds, the team-high, to complete the double double. Lyndsey Dale scored eight points and had six assists in the win also.

I-35 50, Twin Cedars 31

DES MOINES – The Roadrunners beat Twin Cedars 50-31 at the Wells Fargo Arena Saturday afternoon.

White was the leader in points, going 6 of 14 with 15 points. White has six rebounds and six steals.

McCuddin scored 12 points, grabbing six boards.

Morris, Josie McCuddin and Ainsley Maske each had five boards, scoring a combined 13 points.

I-35 44, Pleasantville 40

TRURO – Interstate-35 picked up its first win of the season, edging Pleasantville 44-40 Friday night.

The Roadrunners jumped out ahead early with a 14-3 first quarter, but Pleasantville put up eight points in the second quarter to trail 23-11 at halftime.

I-35 was outscored 29-21 in the second half, but a strong start gave the Roadrunners enough to hold off the late rally.

White scored 15 points on 6 of 14 points with five steals. Maske scored eight points with six rebounds.
