Stephen Lewis

Dr. Stephen Gregory Lewis, son of Dr. George E. Lewis and Norma Jeanne Shannon Lewis was born May 30, 1951 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at 68 years of age.

Steve grew up in Osceola and graduated from Clarke Community High School with the class of 1969.  He went on to Iowa State University and graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1976.  Steve was united in marriage to Jean Marie Stephenson on May 27, 1973 in Osceola.  Following graduation from Iowa State, Steve proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Seattle, Washington.  Jean and Steve enjoyed their time in Seattle and the beautiful area.  Their union was blessed with three children, Chris, Mandy and Angie.

Steve returned to Osceola and began his practice in his father’s veterinary clinic until 2000 when he began working with the USDA.  Steve was a big sports fan and enjoyed watching football, baseball and following the Cyclones.  He enjoyed fishing and traveling and loved having his family together.  He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and George Lewis.

Steve leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Jean Lewis of Osceola, IA,son, Chris (Michelle) of Sioux City, IA, daughter, Mandy (Troy) Iverson of Farmington, MN, daughter, Angie (Ryan) Hughes of West Des Moines, IA, grandchildren, Natalie, Claire, and Adam Lewis all of Sioux City, IA, Audrey and Conner Iverson of Farmington, MN, Andrew and Sydney Hughes of West Des Moines, IA, sisters, Jane (Ed) Davis of Osceola, IA, Lynne (Lynn) George of Osceola, IA, Jo Dee Chalker of Osceola IA, and Jackie Lewis of Annapolis, MD, brother, Dan (Deb) Lewis of Osceola, IA, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Monday, November 18, 2019 at 10:30 am with Rev. Amy Johnson officiating.

Family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday , November 17, 2019 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola.

Interment will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
