Area volleyball roundup: Clarke picks up back-to-back wins, CD splits triangular

Clarke 3, Meskwaki Settlement 1

TAMA – Clarke won 3-1 over Meskwaki Settlement Thursday 3-1, marking the first time all season it has won back-to-back games.

The Indians dropped the first set 25-18 before pulling away with a 25-23, 25-20 and 26-24 stretch for three straight.

Caitlin Clark had 11 kills on 27 attack attempts. She also ha 16 digs and went 6 of 7 with an ace from serve.

Kiaya Dunbar had seven kills with 18 digs. She went 14 of 15 from serve with two aces. Kaitlyn Halsband had the team-high in digs with 19. Halsband also led the team in aces with six.

Emma Bolton went 21 of 23 from serve with five aces.

Clarke 3, Chariton 1

CHARITON – Clarke picked up a win over Chariton last Tuesday, winning 3-1.

Clarke dropped the first set 25-21 before winning three straight at 25-22, 25-20 and 25-21.

Dunbar was the leader in kills with 18. She had 16 digs and two solo blocks. She also went 11 of 14 at serve with two aces.

Halsband had 13 kills and 15 digs with 16 of 19 serving. She tied for the team-high in aces with Clark with four.

Clark had a team leading 23 digs with nine kills. Bolton had the high in helpers, putting up 35 assists. She was 16-for-17 with two aces from serve.

Nicole Barnard went 16-for-16 from serve with 10 digs.

Bedford 3, Murray 0

BEDFORD – Bedford made quick work of Murray last Tuesday night, winning 3-0 (25-12, 25-7, 25-15).

The Lady Mustangs were led by Twila Barber with four kills. She also had four digs and went 7 of 7 from serve.

Emma Decker had seven digs with one kill, going 8-for-8 from serve with an ace.

Jayda Chew had eight assists with two digs.

Teryn Shields had three kills and was 3 of 3 from serve.

Grand View Christian 2, CD 0

CD 2, Moravia 0

Leon – Central Decatur split a triangular last Tuesday, beating Moravia 2-0 and falling to Grand View Christian 2-0.

The Cardinals beat Moravia 25-12 and 25-18 with Alley Shira, Alaina Applegate, River Hamacker and Morgan Nordyke each registering three kills.

Lyndsey Dale and Nordyke had five digs each. Carlee Hamilton had six digs to lead the team.

Applegate had two blocks and went 9 of 10 from serve with three aces.

Against Grand View Christian, CD lost 25-19 and 25-19 in both sets. The Cardinals were led by Shira and Applegate with three kills each. Maizee Lindsey had six digs to lead the team.

Lindsey (9 of 9) and Nordyke (8 of 8) were perfect on serves. Lindsey had two aces and Nordyke had one.

ACGC 3, Interstate 35 0

GUTHRIE CENTER – Interstate 35 lost to ACGC last Tuesday in a 3-0 final.

ACGC outmatched the Roadrunners in 25-14, 25-17 and 25-14 set victories.

Ainsley Maske had six kills to lead I-35. Calli Garner had seven digs and Jaylen Bush had six assists, both being team leading figures.

Paige Palmer and Summer Pasutti each had six digs in the loss.

Reanna Hubbard had a block and four kills.
