Accidents

Ramon Obdulio Melara-Cerna, 29, of Ottumwa was cited for failure to stop within an assured clear distance and charged with opperating while intoxicated after an accident 5:52 p.m. Oct. 2 on Highway 34.

According to an Osceola Police report, Michael Joseph Hubler, 53, of Tennessee, driving a 2020 Freightliner semi was stopped at the red light for the railroad bridge construction east on Highway 34 when Melara-Cerna, driving a 2000 Toyota ran into the back of Hubler’s vehicle.

Estimated damage was $200 to Hubler’s vehicle and $6,000 to Melara-Cerna’s vehicle.

No citaions were issued after an accident9:40 p.m. Oct. 3 at Pilot Truck Stop.

According to an Osceola Police report, Ochak Ochak Odiel, 47, of San Diego, driving a 2017 Peterbuilt semi was pulling out of a parking space and when he turned slightly left the left rear of his trailer struck a legally parked 2017 Kenworth semi in the neighboring stall.

Estimated damage was $100 to the legally parked 2017 Kenworth.
