Osceola FFA Livestock Judging Team Places 6th in the State at State Livestock Judging Competition

Devin DeVore, Kelli McAfee, Alivia Bakley, and Kacey Boyer represented the chapter at State Livestock Judging on August 24, 2019 in Ames. The FFA Livestock Evaluation Career Development Event provides an opportunity for FFA members to display their

agricultural knowledge and skills in the area of Livestock Evaluation. Activities included: Evaluating and placing breeding and market classes of beef, swine, sheep and goats; keep/cull classes - where they evaluated genetic records and compared to the live animal; presented oral reasons that defended why they placed their classes in that specific order and a general knowledge test. There were 123 members participating from 36 chapters. The team placed 6th overall out of 36 teams. Devin DeVore placed 3rd overall in Swine placings out of 123 participants. The team placed 4th out of 36 in swine placings, 8th in beef placing, 14 in sheep placings, 7 overall in oral reasons, and 5th overall in goats.
