Dean Husted

Leonard Dean Husted passed from this life Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Clarke County Hospital at 77 years of age. Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home, 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2019, 301.S. Main St., in Osceola, with Pastor Brian McCracken officiating. The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Kale Funeral Home. Internment will follow in the Union Cemetery in Clarke County. Memorial contributions may be directed to University of Iowa Children's Hospital or EveryStep Hospice in Osceola. Husted, son of Leonard Earl and Nila May (Gould) Husted, was born April 25, 1942 in Osceola. Dean received his education in rural Clarke County in a one room country school. He graduated from Murray High School in 1960. Dean served his country in the Air National Guard from 1960 to 1966 attaining the rank of Airman Second class.  He has resided in Osceola for over 44 years but had lived in California for a brief time in his early years and also Indianola. Dean spent many years as a truck driver for Food Liner and Walmart after first working for Bud Jones Construction. He also drove the Osceola Cab for several years.

Dean enjoyed having coffee at the Family Table, spending time with family and friends and fishing. He used to enjoy playing pool, watching country, bluegrass and gospel music programs. However, most of all Dean was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Dean leaves to cherish his memory; daughter, Jeanette (Howard Sr.) Robinson of Osceola; son, Darrell Husted of Saint Marys; grandchildren: Drew Robinson of Osceola, Howie (Madison) Robinson, Jr. of Osceola, Brandi (Mike) Ridley of Osceola, LeeAnna (Orlando) Husted of Indianola, Savannah (Cody) Husted of Indianola, Chloe Husted of St. Mary’s, Christian Husted of Saint Marys, Kobe Husted of St. Marys; great-grandchildren Jayda, Jace, Kira, Elina, Avianna, Jaliyah, Aliza and Jesse Dean; sister, Marilyn Blunt of Murray; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Husted of Kingwood, Texas; nieces Becky (Shane) McDowell of Osceola, Shari (Randy) Myers of Marysville, Missouri, Jackie (Jeff) Mugan of Garden Grove; nephews: Keith (Bridget) Blunt of Evansville, Indianola, Matthew (Melissa) Husted of Shalmar, Florida, Steven Husted of Garden Grove; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Those relatives who preceded Dean in death were his parents, Leonard and Nila Husted; brothers, Jerry Lee Husted and Donald Eugene Husted; brother-in-law, Phillip Ray Blunt; grandsons: Jesse and Levi Robinson.
