Mark your calendar for a weekend of pure squeal appeal with the National Championship Pig Races & Best of the Midwest BBQ Cookout at Lakeside Hotel Casino on July 6-7.
The swiftest swine of the line! For just a handful of Oreo cookies, the Olympigs of Hambone Express will achieve maximum velocity as they fly around the track at pork-defying speeds. You will be perched on the edge of your seat as these pampered performers pass you at perilous speeds, proving pigs are more than just pork. Bright colors and professional sound will tell you you’re in for a first class pig racing experience. The Swinemaster will assign four cheering sections with one special cheerleader for each section. The excitement will build as the pigs race for the finish line, delighting the crowd. The Swinemaster will introduce the special cheerleader for the winning pig and award them with a pig nose and victory dance while the winning pig “pigs-out” on Oreo’s.
The Best of the Midwest BBQ Cookout starts with National Award Winning Cookers & Beer Tents opening at Noon. “This is our first annual event and will be an experience for your taste buds, with a range of BBQ selections and all of the fixings,” said Dave Monroe, GM for Lakeside. “ Plus, the National Championship Pig Races will provide a squealin’ good time for all ages.” The Pig Races will run on Saturday at 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm, and Sunday’s races will be held at Noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
