GRIMES – Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA), along with presenting event sponsor Lohse Family Foundation, will host the sixth annual Plane Pull fundraising event in Des Moines on Saturday, June 8.
The Plane Pull is a unique opportunity for individuals and organizations to raise money and support SOIA athletes by putting together a 10-person team and trying to pull a Delta CRJ-900, weighing more than 80,000 pounds, 12 feet. Teams must reach a fundraising minimum of $500 to participate, however, the more money a team raises, the more prizes they receive.
“With all the energy that is built around teams trying to pull the plane and the other activities we have going on, the Plane Pull is a very energetic and fun event,” shared Jeanette Steinfeldt, Vice-President of Law Enforcement Torch Run. “We encourage everyone to create a team; over the years we have had many different team makeups prove to be strong enough to move the plane.”
All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Iowa and help to continue to provide year-round sports training and competition to more than 16,000 Special Olympic athletes and Unified partners.
