No citations were issued after an accident 4:20 p.m. Jan. 1 on 220th Avenue.
According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Nikole Marie Jean Howe, 19, of Garden Grove, driving a 2003 Ford south on 220th Avenue, began to slide when she tried to stop at a stop sign. Mackenna Danielle Skroh, 17, of Grand River, driving a 1989 Oldsmobile south on 220th Avenue, was following Howe and began to slide as well as she tried to break after Howe began to slide. Both vehicles left the road, Howe’s vehicle slid through the intersection, went into the ditch and hit the embankment. She saw Skroh’s vehicle go past hers. Skroh steered her vehicle to the left to avoid hitting Howe’s then continued through the ditch, fence and into the field. There was damage on the rear left side of Howe’s vehicle but neither noticed the vehicles colliding at any point. Both Howe and Skroh were taken by ambulance to Clarke County Hospital.
Estimated damage was $3,000 to Howe’s vehicle and $3,000 to Skroh’s vehicle.
