PELLA — The seasons of Clarke and Interstate 35 cross country came to an end last Thursday in Pella, Clarke in the strong 3A field, and I-35 in a good 2A field.
Senior Kylie Shields finished as Clarke’s top runners on the boys or girls side with a finish of 56th in 24:22.5. Fellow senior Chelsea Selsor ran her last race, finishing 75th in 26:16.2.
Pella, Dallas Center-Grimes and North Polk qualified as teams on the girls side.
Clarke boys finished 13th.
The Indians’ three seniors, Timber Kent, Parker Hardy and Humberto Arellano took spots 79-81 in that order, with times of 21:15.2, 21:24.0 and 21:31.0.
Dallas Center-Grimes won the boys portion, while Clear Creek Amana and Nevada qualified for state.

Interstate 35’s season came to a close in the 2A meet, with the Roadrunner boys earning 13th.
Mid-Prairie, Des Moines Christian and Williamsburg earned the 2A boys state bids.
Wyatt Fitzgerald owned the top boys finish for the Roadrunners, placing 27th in a time of 18:50.4.
Lone Roadrunner senior boy Zach Goering finished 52nd in 19:49.5.
Despite not having enough runners to place as a team, Lizzy Parrish worked in the top half of the field, finishing in 39th in 24:12.7.
