Ellensohn Chiropractic is known by many as a smart little shop across from Fareway with a narrow side alley where patients park. That will change this spring as the clinic moves to its new location across from Hy-Vee.
Formerly the site of a General Casey’s Store, the structure has begun the transformation into a state-of-the-art chiropractic care center with expanded space for children and family services.
“We really want to promote kids and families as well as all individuals as Dr. Kyle [Ellensohn] is certified in the Webster technique which is for treating pregnant women and the natural healing of our bodies with chiropractic care,” said Chiropractic Assistant/Office Manager Jessica Eshelman. “Kids are a big focus as what we do helps with ear infections, colic, digestion, bed wetting...even helps the effects of ADD, ADHD [and] other issues.”
Though plans have not been finalized, there’s potential for three stim/traction rooms, adjument, X-ray and acupuncture rooms, a children’s play area, and an infant’s room, providing moms with a comfortable place to nurse.
Renovations won’t be underway until later this year. The clinic hopes to open in the new location this spring. In the meantime, the clinic is making other changes, such as bringing on new staff member Kristin Clark, and updating processes around the office.
“We are learning new systems currently as we continue to strive for efficiency for our patients,” said Eshelman.
As to how coming changes to the Affordable Care Act might impact the business, she said they’re not worried.
“Our first and foremost concern is taking care of the patient,” she said. “The rest will work itself out.”
