New teacher of the week

Clarke and Murray Community Schools welcomed several new teachers into the community for the 2017-18 school year. We’ll be getting to know all of them over the next few months.

Don Ray took a year off of teaching to explore Spain and the Mediterranean Coast before coming to Clarke to teach Spanish II and Spanish IV at Clarke High School. Before Osceola, he taught at Creston and at Graceland University. Ray is from Milo and will be commuting back and forth.

Ray was especially drawn to the program at Clarke because of the opportunities in Osceola to put his Spanish to use. At many schools, students don’t have the opportunity to hear or speak alongside native Spanish speakers. The high number of immigrants who call the area home add a unique element to the classes he’ll be teaching at Clarke.
