Jamboree weekend in Murray

The Murray Lions Club Jamboree was held Friday, Aug. 4, through Sunday, Aug. 6, and included a full weekend of activities and events for the whole town — and visitors — to take part in. From the parade to the baking contest and children’s games, the festivities kept the pace flowing, despite a few sprinkles.

The 2017 Jamboree King and Queen were Ted and Kathy Nowakowski, long-time residents and big-time supporters of the community. The parade theme, “Service — Good People Doing Great Things,” somehow summed up the whole weekend.

In addition to hosting activities, several groups were able to fund raise during the event, including the Sesquicentennial Committee. With the 150th celebration coming up next year, now would be the perfect time to get involved.
