Pre-trial hearing on Reisinger case to be held Friday

A pre-trial hearing in the case against Wilfred Walter Reisinger, 61, 1613 Truro Pavement, begins 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the Clarke County Courthouse.

In December 2016, Reisinger, owner of Anchor Motor, was charged with five counts of identity theft involving losses over $1,000 and under $10,000. Each count is a class D felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and $7,500 in fines.

Charges stem from a string of fraudulent warranty claims submitted using the identification of a former Anchor employee. The Iowa Department Of Transportations’ Bureau of Investigation and Identity Protection handled the case.

The pre-trial hearing date was originally set for March 30, 2017, with the trial to begin May 1. An order for continuance was granted March 29, and again on May 23. If Friday’s hearing goes forward, Reisinger’s case is set to begin Sept. 11.

In related news, Reisinger sold his business Tuesday. Anchor Motor has officially left Osceola. Read more about the dealership taking its place - and the men making it happen - on page 10.
