The Grassroots Home — here is a store, a wonderful store, filled with the joy of a refurbish that only an eyewitness experience could proclaim.

As a person enters this establishment, you must say hello first. It’s not due to a lack of acknowledge. It is solely due to the resolute of a satisfy.

We have as a community a responsibility to fulfill a needed success of this long needed business.

And the “what I mean” on a “say hello first”? Maybe it’s because this proprietor is steadfast busy, using her “born and raised” influenced talents, to satisfy a public’s sometimes unknown need for the “no box, store, lets recycle” and reuse of a rock hard ancestral proven product of success, and survive.

Jerusha, the owner, on almost each and every one of my interactions, was busy doing something. Something of talent. She looks at simple everyday throw aways from the past, and sees the clear future. The future of re-use.

She has taken a building, so ignored due to its state of position and its more than “exciting” past, an so much refurbished its lively hood. A defibrilate that was so much needed.

So, as a community, go visit the old pool hall. Observe the brick and mortar walls brought back to original. Walk the hardwood floor brought back to the fine finish that only Slim VanDyke’s foot rubbing grooves remain. Excite yourself in the knowledge that an unbeknownst has the courage to realize that a “refurbish” might mean more than body and soul. This simple yet so complicated store given to this city square so despaired, re-lights a pilot light so long burned out.

Let’s keep it lit.
