Glendean Hembry Leon

Glendean Loretta Hembry, 85, of Leon died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at home in Leon.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at Slade-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 103 NE Mill St., in Leon with the Rev. Terry D. Roberts officiating. Burial is in Leon Cemetery. Visitation with family present was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Glendean Loretta Hembry, daughter of Raymond Weston and Golda Luella (Young) McGauhey, was born June 15, 1931, in Decatur County. Glendean graduated from Leon High School with the class of 1949.

On Dec. 29, 1949, she married Donald Clyde Hembry in Leon. The family farmed at several locations over the years, but all were in Decatur County. In 1991, they retired and moved into Leon where they lived for 25 years. The past five years, they lived in the housing community on the north edge of Leon.

Glendean is survived by her children, Mike (Kathy) Hembry, Deena Halstead and Donnie Hembry; grandchildren, Shawn Halstead, Laura Siess, James Hembry, Mark Hembry, Robert Hembry and Crystal Hembry; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Brooke, Zoey, Harlow, Isla and Clayton; sister Gwen McClure of Leon; sisters-in-law, Joanne (Earl) Hanthorn of Leon, Carol (Leo) Engelbrecht of Bondurant, Betty (Don) Mullins of Osceola and Mary Hembry of Osceola; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Glendean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Hembry, on Feb. 24, 2016; sister Gerata Scott; sister-in-law Marybelle (Ralph) Hill and brothers-in-law, Myron Hembry, Carol Kirk, Max McClure and Matt Scott.
