Kristine Roberts Gunter, Texas

Kristine Kay Roberts, age 61, of Gunter, Texas, passed away and went to be with the Lord while surrounded by her family on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1954, in Osceola. She was the daughter of W. W. “Bud” and Frances Bowman Wilder. Kris attended schools in Osceola, graduating from Clarke Community High School with the class of 1972. She then graduated from Iowa State University in 1976 with degrees in political science and sociology. She moved to Dallas for work in 1979 and served many roles such as a guidance counselor for the YWCA and managed properties for Horn-Barlow.

In 1986, she met Gane at a fitness center where he worked. They married May 24, 1987, in Farmers Branch, Texas, where they made their home for several years. Their son Andy was born July 1990 and daughter Katie September 1994. Soon after, they moved to Gunter, Texas, to make that their home for the next 20 years. She started and ran her own business, A&K Product Specialties, until her death.

Kris was a kind, selfless, loving Christian woman. She lived her life daily for Christ and her family and friends. She was an active member at Grace Bible Fellowship involved in whatever was available to her. She enjoyed quilting and made numerous baby blankets that were well-loved by family and friends. She was known for her chocolate chip cookies and especially her treats at Christmas time. Married for 29 years, Gane and Kris built a home full of love, laughter and guidance. Kris was involved in every activity throughout Andy and Katie’s school years, into college and beyond. She loved her family with her whole heart every single day.

Preceding her in death were her parents and father-in-law Ray Roberts. Kris is survived by her husband Gane of the home; son Andy and his wife Hannah of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughter Katie of Gunter; brothers, Tony and wife Marjorie Wilder of Dothan, Alabama, Steve and wife Michelle Wilder of Osceola and Kenny and wife Sue Wilder of Osceola; sister Marge Bradshaw of Osceola; mother-in-law Fran Roberts of Hooker, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Kyle and wife Terri Roberts of Hooker, Oklahoma; and sister-in-law Ty and husband Richie Pointer of North Richland Hills, Texas.

Memorial services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Grace Bible Fellowship, 101 West Pecan, in Gunter, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kris Roberts memorial fund. Checks can be mailed to Landmark Bank, 921 N. Eighth St., Gunter, Texas 75058. Donations will be going toward a GIFT perpetual scholarship in Kris’ name.
