Adelbert Hobbs Weldon

Adelbert Francis Hobbs, 87, of Weldon died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola.

Services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Christ's Way Church, with the Rev. Shane Simpson officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.

Adelbert Francis Hobbs, son of Otis Hobbs and Ethel (Renwick) Hobbs, was born Feb. 24, 1929, in St. Charles, Illinois. Del served his country in the Navy during the Korean War from 1947 to 1951, attaining the rank of MO3. He played in the Admiral’s Band during the war.

On May 22, 1954, Del married Marilyn Joan Sellman Hobbs at Maple Park, Illinois.

Del worked in maintenance for Furnas Electric for more than 30 years, retiring July 30, 1991. They even named an isle after him.

Del is survived by his sons, Michael (Jolanta) Hobbs of Weldon and David Hobbs of Weldon; daughter-in-law Jenny (Roc) McBroom of Osceola; grandchildren, Samantha Hobbs of Osceola, Sophie Hobbs of Osceola, Angela (Jesse) Stogdill of Weldon, Maxwell Hobbs of Osceola, Jimmy So Hobbs of Omaha, Nebraska, Jessica (Nathan) Hansen of Blue Springs, Missouri, Breanna (Marcus) McDowell of Weldon, Michael (Chesney) Lajczok of Washington, D.C., and Lauren Hobbs (Kyle Robins) of Murray; great-grandchildren, Caleb Lajczok, Kasen Robins, Myels McDowell, Analice McDowell, Emey McDowell, Halyee Tipton, Britney Hansen, Skyler Hansen and Natalee Hansen; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Del was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marilyn Joan Hobbs; sons, Philip Lloyd Hobbs and Jonathan Lowell Hobbs; two brothers and three sisters.
