Evink receives IPA appreciation award

DES MOINES — The Iowa Pharmacy Association announces Michele Evink, M.S., Pharm.D., of Osceola, is a recipient of the association’s 2016 appreciation award.

The award was presented during IPA’s 2016 annual meeting June 17 in West Des Moines.

The association recognized Evink as one of five former board members of OutcomesMTM, who established the Outcomes Innovative Pharmacy Endowment following the sale of the company in July of 2015.

The endowment, established within the Iowa Pharmacy Association Foundation, will provide grants to innovative pharmacy projects in Iowa.

OutcomesMTM began as an innovative start up in 1999 seeking to increase demand for medication therapy management services and provide the resources for those services.

Iowa Pharmacy Association provided seed money to help establish the company, which became a leader in medication therapy management services. Following the company’s purchase, the board sought a way to give back to the profession in appreciation of its support.

In addition to their own generous contributions, these “Visionaries” encouraged OutcomesMTM shareholders to donate a portion of their proceeds from the sale to the endowment.

“IPA and the pharmacy profession appreciate the generosity and leadership from Michele and the other visionaries,” said Kate Gainer, Pharm.D., IPA’s executive vice president and chief executive officer. “This endowment will fuel future innovation in Iowa pharmacy, to continue to legacy of support and innovation that helped create OutcomesMTM in 1999.”

The Iowa Pharmacy Association Appreciation Award was created in 1988 to recognize individuals and corporations for their support of organized pharmacy in the state of Iowa.
