Ann Buck Osceola

Barbara Ann Buck, 65, of Osceola died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Westview Acres Care Center in Leon.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with the Rev. James "Pete" R. Sheesley officiating. Visitation with family present was from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Committal services were 2 p.m. Friday in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Barbara Ann Buck, daughter of James Marcus Buck and Wanda Mae (Davis) Buck, was born July 3, 1950, in Ames. Ann graduated from Ames High School in 1969. She attended West Mar College in Le Mars for a couple of years, taking classes in elementary education. She then went on to Boone Junior College in Boone for LPN training. Following that, she attended DMACC in Ankeny receiving a clerical degree.

In 1974, the college helped her find a job with Iowa Department of Transportation in Ames in the accounting department where she worked for the next 15 years. She was transferred to the accounting department in Des Moines at Lucas State Office Building. While there, she also worked in professional licensure. She moved on to Iowa Workforce Development with the Division of Labor where she worked in an asbestos program, elevator safety and other duties. Ann retired in 2010 after working for the state for 36 years.

While living in Ames, she sang in the choir at Ames Methodist Church. She volunteered at the Mary Greeley Hospital cafeteria. After moving to Osceola in 1994, she volunteered at Clarke County Hospital, helping deliver mail to the patients and working in the gift shop. She was a current member at LifePoint Assembly of God Church in Osceola and several organizations including Osceola Lions Club for 15 years, Farm Bureau, served as secretary for Southern Iowa Garden Club, Indianola Red Hat Group and Osceola Women’s Republican Group, serving as secretary for several years.

Ann is survived by her brother Jim (Marilyn) of Colorado; twin sister Beverly of Colorado; Alva and Alma Yoder and families; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles.
