Winterset 48, Interstate 35 39

WINTERSET — Interstate 35, ranked 15th in Class 2A, led by four points through three quarters here Friday against Class 4A Winterset, but the Roadrunners lost 48-39 after being outscored 17-4 in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore Gracey Griglione scored 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor to go with seven rebounds and five blocked shots. Sophomore forward Riley Morris added six points with a team-high eight rebounds and five blocked shots.

Sophomore guard Slye Richardson scored 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. She added three rebounds, four assists and two steals. Cheyenne Hiatt, another sophomore, was the only other Roadrunner to score, netting five points with four rebounds.

Central Decatur 69, Lamoni 34

LAMONI — Central Decatur’s offense exploded in the second and third quarters here Friday in a 69-34 win over Lamoni in the season opener.

The Cardinals scored 24 points in the second quarter and 25 points in the third quarter, outscoring the Demons 49-19 in those two quarters.

Senior Hallie Linhart netted 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor, adding five rebounds, seven assists, four steals and three blocked shots. Sophomore Jentri Hullinger added 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go with four rebounds and two steals.

Junior Elena Rodriguez contributed 12 points off the bench, shooting 6-of-9 from the floor. She grabbed four rebounds and had two steals. Senior Lydia Martin scored seven points with two blocked shots.

Raegan Boothe and Lily Simon each scored four points for the Cardinals. They each dished out three assists, while Boothe grabbed three steals and Simon had two. Simon also pulled down five rebounds.

Keegan Bethards scored two points and had four rebounds. Hanna Mendenhall scored two points with three rebounds and two steals. Annalise Minnick scored one point with one steal and one block.

The Cardinals return to action Dec. 2 at Clarke.
