The second night of racing was put into the books with six different winners for 2014 in victory lane at the end of the night. Three of them picked up their first career wins. Weather once again played havoc on the track throughout the week, but the CCS track crew did a great job of keeping the track together throughout the night.
Defending Jr. FWD track champion Niki Sparks was the one to beat in the Jr. FWD’s. She lead the way for most of the race to pick up her first win of the season. T.J Woods was second, followed by Alan Delker in third.
One of the best races of the night came in the Pro 4 Trucks. Kristin Clark, Garrett Nelson and John Bakely battled throughout the course of the feature with challenges from Garrit Mckee and Cody Mundy. Clark would hold them off for her first career win in front of the hometown crowd. Nelson was second, Bakely third, Mckee was fourth and Troy Shute from Des Moines was fifth.
Twenty-seven Iowa Micro Sprints signed in for the second night of action. After qualifying, 20 cars started the 20 lap A-Main. D.J Palmer stole the show while holding off challenges from Ryan Leavitt early in the race. Palmer would go the distance and take home his first career win. Nate Mills made the charge to finish second and Altoona’s Christian Bowman was third.
A stout field of CCS B-Mods were up next. Randy Rudolf led the way early with Colton Livezey close behind. Livezey would make the pass halfway through the main for the lead. Rick Germar made the charge from the back of the field for second place and challenged Livezey in the final laps. Livezey stayed consistent to pick up his first career B-Mod win. Germar finished second and Rudolf was third.
The Outlaw Hobby Stocks were next to take to the track. Darin Dezwarte gained the lead early and never looked back to take home the victory. Trent Jeanes was second with Osceola’s Cassidy Buckingham third.
Dean Richards stole the show in the FWD Street Stocks and visited victory lane for the first time this season. Jacob Camden finished in second with Jacob Reiter in third.
