The Clarke tennis teams continued their strong play as they near postseason play, winning three 9-0 sweeps.
The boys team posted two of those 9-0 sweeps, improving to 9-0 for the season.
The Indians swept Albia here on May 6, cruising to the victory as the closest match of the day was a 10-6 win at No. 2 doubles by Yahia Aly and Jacob Redman.
Colin Morris and Jared Jamison each won 10-2 matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively and also teamed up for a 10-3 win at No. 1 doubles over the team of Hobie Hein and Skyler Hoover.
Yahia Aly posted a 10-3 win at No. 3 singles over Carter Isley and Redman was a 10-1 winner over Noah Belt. Ali Aly won 10-4 at No. 5 singles over Blake Lawless and Holden Hewitt picked up a 10-1 win over Caleb White at No. 6 singles.
The No. 3 doubles team of Rodrigo Mayorga and Trevor Kirkpatrick won 10-1 over White and Rhett Waters.
Clarke then swept Southwest Valley in Corning on May 8.
Morris was an 8-2 winner at No. 1 singles over Christoph Hinterkopf, while Jamison won 8-1 over Charlie Marina. Yahia Aly was an 8-0 winner over Trevor Holbrook.
Redman picked up an 8-1 win over Nick Frede, while Ali Aly and Holden Hewitt both won 8-0 in their singles matches.
Morris and Jamison won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles over Hinterkopf and Holbrook. Yahia Aly and Redman teamed for an 8-0 win over Marina and John Kenser. Ali Aly and Hewitt won 8-2 over Frede and Scott Palmer.
Meanwhile, the Clarke girls improved to 7-2 for the season with their 9-0 sweep at home against Southwest Valley.
Libby Bemis won 8-2 over Kendra Wilkinson at No. 1 singles, while Tracy Morgan and Cassidy Bierbrodt were both 8-0 winners at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Macey Snell posted an 8-3 win over Lisa Jennings at No. 4 singles. Sydnee Redman (No. 5) and Rachael Simpson (No. 6) both won 8-2 in their matches.
The Lady Indians didn't lose a single game in doubles play, as all three teams won 8-0.
Morgan and Bierbrodt defeated the team of Wilkinson and Sydney Dimmler. Bemis and Simpson beat the team of Kayla Hartstack and Jennings. Snell and Redman won against the team of Brittney Westlake and Kera Carpenter.
The Clarke boys return to action today in district action, while the Clarke girls start regional play on Saturday.
