Middle school to offer ART program

This year, Clarke Community Middle school announces the first ever 2014 Clarke Community Middle School ART summer program.

The program will begin on Monday, June 2, and continue through Friday, June 20.

Monday through Thursday, students will meet at the Clarke Learning Center from 9 a.m. to noon. On Friday, students will be participating in earned trips to Iowa Cubs Baseball game, The Beach Water Park in Ottumwa and the challenge course at Camp Dodge.

Students will participate in the Aggression Replacement Therapy curriculum, also known as ART. This program is a research-based model program providing three key components to students: anger management, skill streaming and moral reasoning.

Each component is designed to assist students in identifying good choices in life, to provide an ability to identify and deal with anger and to choose between right and wrong.

This program is offered at no charge to middle school students in Clarke Community School District. Registration is limited — there are only 20 spots available. Sign up forms are located in the middle school office or online.
