Murray blood drive planned

MURRAY — Murray Community Blood Drive is planned 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May  1, at Murray Community Center, 416 Maple St.

Donors will register, fill out a brief history questionnaire, give one pint of blood, then rest and enjoy cookies and beverages in the snack area.

Blood donors must be 16 years of age or older, weigh at least 120 pounds, be in general good health, and donors should eat a good meal and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood.

The donation process takes less than one hour.

The Blood Center of Iowa joined operations with Siouxland Community Blood Bank in April 2010 to become LifeServe Blood Center.

As one of the 15th largest blood centers in the country, LifeServe Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 100 hospitals located across Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
