Farmers’ market in Osceola still going strong

Clarke County Farmers’ Market may be at its peak. Saturday, Aug. 10, the farmers’ market had 16 vendors, which probably the highest number so far this season.

Just about any kind of garden produce that can be grown locally was available on the tables, plus more – baked goods, crafts, honey, herbs and jellies.

To top off the variety of items for sale the farmers’ market had entertainment. Tawny Waske provided a morning of entertainment with her music and singing. Even though it was the first weekend of the Iowa State Fair, the crowd was good, weather was almost perfect for a summer day in August and vendors appreciated all who came out to buy.

Remember, the farmers’ market continues on the square in Osceola every Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon through Oct. 19.

Fall produce will be coming along soon. Then, winter will be here and the fresh produce from the gardens will be a thing of the past. However, there will continue to be a farmers’ market once a month throughout winter months. Be watching for more information this fall. On Saturday, Aug. 31, Waske will be back to entertain and people should make sure to stop by.
