Stearns named SWCC Osceola Center director
Sue Stearns of Woodburn has been named as director of Southwestern Community College’s Osceola Center. She replaces Dana Seymour, who is headed to Princeton, Mo., to be principal of the secondary school.
Stearns worked for 34 years with Juvenile Court Services. She retired from there in July 2010 and finished her master’s degree from Simpson College in 2011. Stearns started teaching classes in criminal justice at Southwestern Community College in August 2011 and continues to do so today. She became SWCC’s criminal justice program advocate in September 2012 with assistance from the Clarke County Development Corporation.
She served as a director for the Clarke County Development Corporation for eight years. Stearns is a member of T.T.T.F.Z., which raises funds to send girls to camps every year.
Stearns is excited to show the Osceola community all the center has to offer. She strongly feels the center offers all residents of Osceola and the surrounding communities an affordable education in their own backyard. Stearns is available to visit with individuals and groups about educational opportunities at Southwestern Community College. She may be reached at the SWCC Osceola Center at 641-342-3531 or email@example.com.
