Central Decatur 11, Nodaway Valley 5
GREENFIELD — Central Decatur put up six runs in the third inning to take the lead and never looked back in an 11-5 win over Nodaway Valley here Friday.
Caitlyn Saxton and Hallie Linhart each hit home runs for the Cardinals, while Josie Carter hit her second homer of the season in the fifth inning for Nodaway Valley.
Saxton added a triple and a stolen base in a 3-for-5 night. Linhart drove in two runs. Lydia Martin went 4-4 with a double and three RBI.
Carter finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate. Emily Huntington and Rachel Jacobson each went 2-3 with one RBI. Christine Gross drove in two runs for the Wolverines.
“CD won a slugfest as the two teams combined for 26 hits on the night,” Nodaway Valley head coach Ray Stewart said.
SEYMOUR — Murray scored five runs in the third inning, propelling the Mustangs to an 8-4 win over Seymour here Tuesday.
Seymour scored all four of its runs with two outs in the fourth inning.
Kate Patton struck out 13 batters and allowed just four hits, picking up the win.
Danielle McIntosh hit two home runs for the Mustangs, while McKenzie Case had two hits and two runs batted in.
Murray improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Bluegrass Conference.
MORAVIA — Murray picked up a 7-0 win over Moravia here Thursday behind 14 strikeouts from Danielle McIntosh.
McIntosh moves to 4-0 for the season in the pitching circle. She allowed just one hit in the sixth inning.
Kate Patton had a triple and two runs batted in. McKenzie McIntosh drove in one run, collecting two hits including a double. Deena Snyder drove in one run. Cydney Hembry had two hits.
Murray improves to 7-1 for the season and 3-0 in the Bluegrass Conference.
LEON — Danielle McIntosh led the Murray Mustangs to a 15-2 win over Bedford in the first round of the Central Decatur Tournament here Saturday.
McIntosh tossed a one-hitter in the pitching circle with seven strikeouts. She also picked up two hits, including a grand slam home run to center field.
McKenzie McIntosh and Cydney Hembry each added two hits, as Hembry drove in two runs. Chellsea Jones had two hits with two RBI and Deena Snyder drove in three runs on two hits.
All nine Murray starters collected at least one hit.
LEON — Murray won a pitcher’s duel in the second game of the Central Decatur Tournament here Saturday, 2-0 over Lamoni.
Lamoni’s Karla Smith threw a five-hitter, while Kate Patton pitched a three-hitter for the Mustangs.
Patton struck out six batters. Offensively for Murray, Chellsea Jones drove in both runs in the fifth inning. patton added two hits.

LEON — Murray won the Central Decatur Tournament championship for the second year in a row, winning a 1-0 pitchers duel against Central Decatur here Saturday.
Central Decatur’s Sadie Greene was pitching a no-hitter through six innings, until Danielle McIntosh led off the seventh inning with a towering double off the wall in center field. She moved to third on a grounder by Cydney Hembry and scored on Chellsea Jones’s single.
McIntosh picked up the win in the circle, allowing just four hits. Central Decatur had a runner reach third in three different innings, but each time McIntosh worked out of the jam.
Murray won six games during the week and improved to 11-1 overall for the season.
PLEASANTVILLE — Class 3A 13th-ranked Interstate 35 improved to 8-2 for the season with a 14-0 win over Pleasantville here on June 6.
Caitlin Weeks had a big game for the Roadrunners, pitching a four-hitter with eight strikeouts for the win and going 2-for-4 with two home runs with five runs batted in.
Junior first baseman Claire Bertrand went 2-4 with three RBI.
Brooke Brommel, Jenna Sandquist, Jordan Williamson, Slye Richardson and Hanna Bryant each drove in one run for the Roadrunners.
