Nearly a year ago, Clarke Area Arts Council began planning a chair event, a fundraiser for the organization.
The 23-member board of directors supported the project, especially longtime boardmember and treasurer Linda Porter.
After Porter died in December, the group proceeded with plans to paint and decorate chairs to auction off during a casual evening of appetizers and entertainment.
In keeping with the wish to memorialize Porter, the event became known as “Chair-ished Memories.”
The event will be held at Osceola Country Club 5:30 p.m. Sunday, June 30. There will be a $10 admission fee. People are invited to an evening of fun, and to find a perfect chair for their home, office or patio.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Pennie Gonseth Cheers and Joe Hynek.
Proceeds from the event will support the arts council’s “Artists-in-the-School” projects.
The chairs will be on display in the windows of the former Marcee’s Gold Boutique building on the east side of the square.
